Daily Routines

Your Child’s Routine

How does Rand Farm Park Day Nursery & Pre-School adapt to your child’s routine?

At Rand Farm Park Day Nursery, we know how important it is for children to feel safe, settled and happy each day. That’s why gentle, consistent routines are such a big part of life here. Having a familiar flow to the day helps children relax, build confidence and feel a real sense of belonging from the moment they walk through the door. From group time and outdoor adventures to shared meals and quiet rest, our daily routines help children grow in independence, develop positive behaviours and build strong social and communication skills. By combining reassuring structure with plenty of opportunities to explore, play and discover, we create a warm, nurturing environment where every child can thrive and truly enjoy their early years.

Open Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–6:00 pm, with flexible sessions, early drop-off and later collection to fit around each family’s routine and working day.

Adapting Farm Visits Into Our Routine

Children visit the farm each day as part of their supervised learning and play experiences.

This is a defining feature of the nursery, providing regular, hands-on opportunities to engage with the farm, whether collecting eggs, feeding livestock or observing the animals up close. These daily experiences enrich learning, build confidence and create meaningful connections with the natural world.

Structured Meal Times

Meals are freshly prepared onsite by a chef, and children sit down together for social eating times.

Typical meal structure includes:

  • Breakfast, 8:00 am – 9:00 am. Serving cereals, wholemeal toast, and fresh fruit/yoghurt.
  • Lunch, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. A cooked meal is served.
  • Snacks, 10:30 am & 2:30 pm. Children are offered a ‘Rolling Snack’, allowing children to choose if they would like to participate in snack time or not.
  • Dinner 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm. Dinner consists of a light meal, such as sandwiches, beans on toast, etc.

Integrating Nap/Quiet Time Into Your Child’s Routine

We recognise how important rest is for young children’s wellbeing and development. For babies and toddlers, our team follows familiar, home-style routines to ensure each child feels comfortable, settled and secure. Rather than working to a rigid timetable, we respond to individual needs, with a calm rest or sleep period typically offered after lunch to allow little ones time to recharge.

For our youngest children, sleep routines are carefully tailored in partnership with families. We mirror home sleep patterns as closely as possible, helping to provide consistency, reassurance and a smooth transition between home and nursery life.

Reading & Learning in the Daily Routine

Our nursery programme thoughtfully blends play, exploration and early education to create a rich, engaging environment for every child. Daily experiences include story time, singing, conversation and carefully planned language development activities that nurture communication skills and early confidence.

These opportunities are woven naturally throughout the day, both within our nursery rooms and outdoors on the farm. By combining early literacy with hands-on, farm-based learning, children develop curiosity, vocabulary and understanding through real-life experiences, making learning meaningful, memorable and fun.

Going to nursery is a big step for both children and parents, which is why our daily routines are designed to feel calm, consistent and reassuring. A familiar rhythm to the day helps children settle quickly, build confidence and feel secure in their surroundings.
From farm visits and shared meals to story time and quiet rest, each part of the day flows naturally, creating a balanced routine that supports learning, wellbeing and happiness.

We’re here to help with any query, concern or question you may have, and would love to guide you through the journey.
